A cat has been reunited with its owner almost two years after it went missing. Owner Ruth Lawrence lost 10-year-old kitty Holly in October 2017 - shortly after moving to a new home in Kitt Green, Wigan. Ruth, 47, who adopted Holly from an animal rescue centre eight years ago, said: “On one of her first trips out she must have become disoriented and she never came home.” Ruth searched for Holly in animal shelters and put up posters with her pictures on but then feared the worst. I worked on a cruise ship after college—here's what I learned

This time last year I was fresh out of university. I graduated with a degree in politics and economics, and was worried about my career prospects. I had been job hunting for months without luck and was beginning to get frustrated. I considered taking some time to go off traveling, but couldn’t afford to do that. I was banking close to 40 hours a week in the supermarket I’d worked weekends in since I was 18, wondering how I ended up there and when I would get out. It was about this time that I decided to apply for a job at sea, working in the duty free gift shops, after speaking to a friend who was doing it. Cyclists take to the streets of Manchester to protest City Council road 'improvements'

The plans have been labelled a 'swindle' by cyclists who say they only take into accounts the needs of motor vehicle drivers and disregard the safety of cyclists and pedestrians. Taking to Facebook, Nick Hubble - who co-organised the event - said: "T he scheme will take out the existing cycle lanes without replacing them. Instead, we are being promised an alternative winding, narrow cycle route through the Northern Quarter rather than safe, protected and direct bike lanes on this key corridor."
